One of Las Vegas' rare rainy days couldn't dampen the spirits of Aid For Aids of Nevada's (AFAN) annual Black and White Party. All proceeds raised by the benefit are going to funding for treatment and assistance of those suffering from HIV and AIDS in the Southern Nevada area through AFAN.

For the third consecutive year, the College of Southern Nevada is hosting the Vegas Artists Guild's 2009 Spring Members' Show. Located at the Artspace within the the Cheyenne campus of the Las Vegas community college, the exhibition opened May 1st and runs through June 30th.
Earlier last week, Nevada joined the growing ranks of states that have recently moved toward the elimination of discriminatory laws regarding same sex unions. Late Tuesday evening, the state Senate passed SB283, which would create domestic partnerships and give those involved most of the same rights that married couples currently enjoy, by a 12-9 vote.
